Gravel-Lok - Repair and Roll Coat
After several years, Gravel-Lok jobs (installed using the pour method) may need some minor repairs. This video walks you through the process and demonstrates how to properly apply a roll coat. NOTE: This type of maintenance may be required every 1 - 2 years. If your job was installed with Amber Gravel-Lok, do not apply Clear Gravel-Lok on top as a roll coat. Do not use Clear Gravel-Lok for any repairs. If your job was installed with Amber Gravel-Lok use Amber for roll coats and repairs. If your job was installed with Clear Gravel-Lok use Clear for roll coats and repairs. For patching, measure your stones with a plastic 5 gallon bucket. Fill up bucket half way with stones and mix 12 oz. of liquid with the stones (this video says 8 oz. but please use 12 oz.). Coverage rates for roll coats have been updated to 400 - 500 sf per five gallon container (80 - 100 sf per gallon). Call for more information 410-721-4844. Gravel-Lok Case Study - DIY Small Project
Homeowner installed Gravel-Lok DIY - Small Project. This homeowner has a 15’ x 2’ wide strip that separates her driveway from her sidewalk. It is an area that receives both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. It is filled with decorative stone ranging in size from 3/8” to 3”. Over time the stones disappear – they get tossed away due to foot or vehicular traffic. They end up in the driveway, on the sidewalk, or adjacent beds. They also ‘settle’ and migrate down into the earth below the bed. Dirt, leaves and small twigs infiltrate the bed of pebbles. It’s impossible to blow off or vacuum the area without losing more stones. Every year or two the homeowner picks up the stones, washes them, and replaces them. This year she used Gravel-Lok to bond the stones together. The following slides describe the process.
